The verses came pretty quick as I sat writing this song, which surprised me greatly. Usually it is quite difficult writing where nearly every line rhymes, but this story just fell into place. It is definitely something Jesus wanted me to write. But the chorus took a couple of days, but it was well worth it, such a catchy chorus that gives us courage.

Spiritual warfare is real, however there is very little we can do, and it's pretty well all up to God. I wanted this song to convey how helpless we are, and that victory and might is only found in our General - Jesus Christ. And our job is not to battle the evil spiritual forces, but the set captives free. I hope you find this song as inspiring as I do. I still can't believe it was written by my hand.
My armours on, what do I do?
I hold my sword that I can't use
To Fight the enemy, I will lose
Unless somebody teaches me.
My shield of faith hangs on my arm
It's far too heavy and I can't start
To protect myself from all the harm
of deadly arrows shot at me.
My helmet's too big for my head
My shoes to small so I can't tread
Into the battle, so with dread
I see the enemy come to me.
Stand your ground
And if you fall down
Stand again
Trusting God's hand
Will guide you to the victory
As you learn to pray and believe.
You've already won
But if you fall down
Know God's Son
Stands his ground
He has never been defeated
and he has stared the devil down.
I swing my sword, that he knocks down
And kicks my shield and swings around
His fist as I fall to the ground
And land upon my dirty knees
Then darkness lifts its killing blow
I watch with dread, I am too slow
To dodge his sword and now I know
My Christian life will now soon cease.
But as I cringe upon the ground
About to die, I hear a sound
That's from a trumpet blowing loud
That makes the darkness turn and flee.
Stand your ground
And if you fall down
Stand again
Trusting God's hand
Will guide you to the victory
As you learn to pray and believe.
You've already won
But if you fall down
Know God's Son
Stands his ground
He has never been defeated
and he has stared the devil down.
I now look up, there Jesus stands
And then He kneels and grabs my hand
To pull me on my feet again
And lead me to a place I see
Where wounded soldiers learn to read
The Bible, and pray with belief
That God's the one who takes the lead
To win the battle's victory
So now my armour fits on tight
My sword is sharp, and I can fight
With prayer I call upon God's might
To set the enemy's captives free.
Stand your ground
And if you fall down
Stand again
Trusting God's hand
Will guide you to the victory
As you learn to pray and believe.
You've already won
But if you fall down
Know God's Son
Stands his ground
He has never been defeated
and he has stared the devil down.
Stand your ground
And if you fall down
Stand again
Trusting God's hand
Will guide you to the victory
As you learn to pray and believe.
You've already won
But if you fall down
Know God's Son
Stands his ground
He has never been defeated
and he has stared the devil down.
