Music helps you process emotions, and I started writing this one three days after my dad died.
The final song resembled nothing of the original poem I wrote, but the process helped me.
It took a week to write.
My original chorus was:
Will my faith survive
In the fire
If my hope is taken
In the trial
When I'm breaking
And feel forsaken
Will my faith die?
Or will it rise up
and awaken.
It was two days after the funeral before I was happy with the Suno renditions. It's a powerful song dealing with the question of where is God and what is He doing. I hope this song helps you as it has me.
170 songs to get to this one. I think that's my record so far.

LYRICS - HOLD ON - MICHAEL KUNZ
I'm hungry and the cupboard's bare
I try to pray, but only stare
At the last meal sitting there To feed my family
I'm despairing
Is God caring?
I cannot bare to think he's abandoned me
When you feel forsaken
And your hope is dying
When your joy is taken
When you've given up fighting
Hold on
God's not left you
Hold on
God has kept you
From a greater battle
you cannot see
He's fighting, He's fighting for Your eternal destiny
I'm sitting in the hospital chair
I look above and say a prayer
The doctor tells me I've got a rare Form of terminal cancer
I'm falling apart
It's shattered my heart
"Why me God?" But there's no answer
When you feel forsaken
And your hope is dying
When your joy is taken
When you've given up fighting
Hold on
God's not left you
Hold on
God has kept you
From a greater battle
you cannot see
He's fighting, He's fighting for Your eternal destiny
I sit in silence
I've had enough
I'm losing my belief
I don't understand
God could have waved his hand
And make the problems disappear
But I can't see the invisible war
Where God takes on the brunt of the storm
And sometimes harm finds its way through
And I get focused on these wounds
And think God's let me down
Then Jesus turns around
and says
When you feel forsaken
And your hope is dying
When your joy is taken
When you've given up fighting
Hold on
God's not left you
Hold on
God has kept you
From a greater battle
you cannot see
He's fighting, He's fighting for Your eternal destiny
Hold on
God's not left you
Hold on
God has kept you
From a greater battle
you cannot see
He's fighting, He's fighting for Your eternal destiny
